Joost and Taylor Named to All-WIAC Soccer Team

Madison, Wis. – University of Wisconsin-La Crosse junior defender Sarah Joost of Waukesha (West) and sophomore midfielder Saskia Taylor of Madison (West) have been selected to the 2010 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Team in a vote by the league coaches. It is the first all-conference honor for both players. 

Senior defender Kelleen Gorenc of De Pere (West) was also named to the 2010 All-WIAC Sportsmanship Team.

Joost started all 17 matches in 2010, finishing tied for second on the team with three goals. She tied for first with two match-winning goals, coming against St. Mary's University, Minn. (Sept. 8) and UW-Superior (Oct. 2). Joost scored her third of the year at UW-Whitewater (Oct. 30). 

Sixth on the team with six points this season, Joost now has five career goals. She also has five career assists for 15 total points. 

Taylor also started all 17 matches this year. She was tied for second in goals with three and tied for third in total points with nine. Taylor recorded two goals and one assist against UW-Superior (Oct. 2) and finished with one goal and two assists at Grinnell College, Iowa (Oct. 6)> 

Tied for the team lead with 43 shots this year, Taylor has five career goals, three assists and 13 total points. 

Gorenc played in 69 career matches for the Eagles with 67 starts. She started 16 matches this season, recording one assist. Gorenc finished with two career assists.

UW-L finished 8-7-2 overall this season and 2-4-2 in the WIAC.

UW-L's student-athletes recorded a cumulative grade point average of 3.210 in 2010-11, the highest in the WIAC.  The Eagles also had the highest number of student-athletes, 376, posting grade point averages above 3.000.
