La Crosse, Wis. - University of Wisconsin-La Crosse senior cornerback
Matt Winney of
Green Bay (Preble) has been selected to the 2009 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) First Team Wednesday in a vote by league coaches. Winney started all 10 games this season for the Eagles, finishing fifth on the team in tackles with 40. He recorded 32 solo tackles.
Winney led UW-L with nine pass break-ups and three forced fumbles in 2009. He recorded interceptions versus Missouri University of Science & Technology Sept. 26 and UW-Stevens Point Oct. 24. Winney finishes his career with seven interceptions, 23 pass break-ups and 122 tackles, including 95 solo.
Named to the 2008 All-WIAC Sportsmanship Team, Winney tied his career-high with eight tackles against Missouri University of Science & Technology this season.

Oldenburg led the Eagles in rushing attempts (171), rushing yards (936) and rushing touchdowns (15)?this season despite missing three games with injuries. His 936 yards is tied for 13th in single-season school history while the 15 rushing touchdowns tied a school record.
Ron Myhra (1976),
Ted Pretasky (1987) and
Willie Berzinski (1953) also had 15 rushing touchdowns.
Oldenburg, who averaged 5.5 yards per attempt this season, set career-highs in rushing attempts (33) and yards (206) versus Azusa Pacific University (Calif.) Sept. 12. He also scored two rushing touchdowns while averaging 6.2 yards per attempt against the Cougars. Oldenburg finished with 31 carries and 180 yards and three touchdowns against UW-Stout Oct. 31. The three rushing touchdowns tied his career-high set versus Missouri University of Science & Technology Sept. 26. He had 96 yards on 18 carries versus the Miners.
He ends his career fifth in school history in rushing touchdowns (24). Oldenburg recorded 264 career rushing attempts for 1,513 yards.
Gebel, Smith and Schulz started all 10 contests along the offensive line in 2009, helping lead UW-L's offense to average 29.9 points per game, third in the WIAC. The Eagles were fourth in the conference in yards per game (395.2), including fourth in passing offense per game (228.2) and fifth in rushing offense per game (167.0). It is the second all-conference honor for Gebel after being named to the 2008 second team.
O'Kane led UW-L with 16 punt returns for 170 yards (10.6 average) and 17 kickoff returns for 255 yards (15.0 average) this season. He had two punt returns for 47 yards, including a long of 37, against Missouri Science & Technology Sept. 26. O'Kane had a season-long punt return of 42 yards against UW-Stevens Point Oct. 24. He had three kickoff returns for 65 yards with a season-long of 45 yards against UW-Oshkosh Oct. 3.
Also playing tailback this year, O'Kane had 15 carries for 45 yards. He caught three passes for 28 yards and one touchdown, coming against UW-River Falls Oct. 17.
Bordeau played in nine games this season and led the Eagles with four receiving touchdowns. He was second on the team in catches (57) and yards (592). Bordeau caught a career-high 11 passes for a career-high 134 yards at UW-Eau Claire Nov. 7. He had two touchdown catches at UW-River Falls Oct. 17 and also caught touchdown passes versus Azusa Pacific University (Calif.) Sept. 12 and UW-Oshkosh Oct. 3.
Johnson earned his second career all-conference recognition with his second team honor this year at linebacker. He was selected to the 2008 All-WIAC Honorable Mention Defense. Starting all 10 games, Johnson led UW-L with 69 tackles this season, including a team-best 53 solo. He had a career-high 15 tackles at UW-River Falls Oct. 17 and finished with nine tackles against UW-Stout Oct. 31 and seven tackles versus UW-Oshkosh Oct. 3 and UW-Platteville Oct. 10.
Recording a team-high 13.5 tackles for loss, Johnson had 4.0 tackles for loss against UW-Platteville and 3.0 versus Missouri University of Science & Technology Sept. 26.
Johnson ends his career with 182 tackles, including 109 solo. He also had 23.0 career tackles for loss.
Lenzendorf played in all 10 contests in 2009, finishing 12th on the team in tackles with 22. He registered 18 solo tackles. Lenzendorf had a career-high six tackles against UW-River Falls Oct. 17. He had five tackles versus UW-Stevens Point Oct. 24. Lenzendorf recorded 50 career tackles at UW-L, including 36 solo.
Dreher picked up his second career league honor with his honorable mention selection in 2009. He was named to the 2008 All-WIAC Second Team Defense. Dreher started all 10 games in 2009, recording a team-high five interceptions. He now has 11 career interceptions. Dreher had a pair of interceptions at East Texas Baptist University Sept. 5.
Finishing eighth on the team in tackles this year with 27, Dreher was second on the squad with eight pass break-ups. He also returned a fumble 35-yards for a touchdown against UW-Stout Oct. 31.
Drath played in nine games in 2009 and finished second on the team with 66 tackles. He was third with 47 solo tackles. Drath recorded a team-high 11 tackles (eight solo) versus UW-Stevens Point Oct. 24 and a team-best eight tackles against Azusa Pacific University (Calif.) Sept. 12. He tied for the team lead in tackles in four other games.
Drath led the Eagles with two fumble recoveries and tied for third with four pass break-ups.
UW-L finished 5-5 overall and 2-5 in the WIAC in 2009.
