UW-L Hosts Alumni Meet

La Crosse, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse men's swimming and diving team hosted its annual Alumni Meet Saturday, Oct. 31 in Mitchell Hall.

Justin Dembski won a pair of events taking the 200 (1:49.33) and 500 (4:59.42) freestyle.

Other winners included Benjamin Knutson in the 50 freestyle (22.70), Peter Szotkowski in the 200 I.M. (2:14.70), Andrew Rasmussen in the 100 butterfly (57.60) and Colin Schmidt in the 100 freestyle (50.28). Rasmussen was also second in the 200 I.M. (2:17.57).

Spencer Loch captured the 100 backstroke (56.51) and Matthew Diehl won the 100 breaststroke (1:02.31).

UW-L's Kevin Misener, Bill Shuster, Michael Hagensick and Knutson took the 200 medley relay (1:41.91) while Dembski, Norman Schwenn, Ryan Schmidt and Jon Riley Seebeck won the 200 freestyle relay (1:29.06).

Nathanial Hoffman was second in the 50 freestyle (24.39), Hagensick second in the 100 freestyle (51.16), Misener placed second in the 200 freestyle (1:53.76) and Ryan Schmidt second in the 500 freestyle (5:20.50).

Casey Borden was second in the 100 backstroke (57.51) and Shuster finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.53).

UW-L’s athletic teams sport a contemporary Eagle in the L and caricature created in 1989. Dave Christianson, a 1973 art major graduate, penned the images after the UW-L men’s teams took the Eagles moniker. Women’s teams started sporting the Eagles moniker in November 1990.
