The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team leads after the first day of competition at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational. The Eagles have 400 team points while UW-Eau Claire is second with 324.5 and UW-Stevens Point third with 277.

Minnesota State University, Mankato is fourth (218.5) followed by Gustavus Adolphus College, Minn. (218), Hillsdale College, Mich. (208), Minnesota State University Moorhead (164), Northern Michigan University (111) and UW-Whitewater (83).

In Friday's action, UW-L's Chelsea Hoff took a pair of individual titles. She won the 100 backstroke (58.68) and 100 freestyle (52.85). The Eagles' Danielle Ellingson won the 200 I.M. (2:13.04) and placed fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.81).

Katelyn Hartung finished fourth in the 100 (54.89) and 500 (5:23.72) freestyle.

UW-L's Rachel LaValley placed fourth (398.50 points) and Shannon Doyle fifth (395.85) in the three-meter diving competition.

In the relay events, the Eagles captured the 400 medley (4:03.72) and 800 freestyle (8:01.72) while placing third in the 200 freestyle (1:31.09).

Action concludes Saturday.

UW-L's student-athletes recorded a cumulative grade point average of 3.210 in 2010-11, the highest in the WIAC.  The Eagles also had the highest number of student-athletes, 376, posting grade point averages above 3.000.
