UW-L Places Third at Point Invite

UW-Stevens Point Invitational Results

Stevens Point, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team placed third at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational Saturday afternoon. UW-Stevens Point captured the team title with 1,123 points while UW-Whitewater was second with 648. The Eagles placed third with 517 points.

UW-Eau Claire was fourth (452) followed by Gustavus Adolphus College, Minn. (389), Minnesota State University Mankato (234) and UW-Oshkosh (36). 

Due to the weather conditions, the Eagles did not race in the event finals Saturday. UW-L did compete in the preliminaries. 

In Saturday's action, UW-L's Justin Dembski placed third in the 1,650 freestyle (16:48.06) while Ryan Schmidt was 10th (17:57.95).

The Eagles' Trey Edgerle finished fourth (358.85 points) and Casey Chamberlain fifth (348.15) in the three-meter diving competition.

UW-L returns to action Saturday, Jan. 30 at UW-Stevens Point at 1p.m.

Did You Know...
UW-L's student-athletes recorded a cumulative grade point average of 3.210 in 2010-11, the highest in the WIAC.  The Eagles also had the highest number of student-athletes, 376, posting grade point averages above 3.000.
