Larson Scores Career-High in Win over UW-Superior

scored a career-high 19 points as the UW-La Crosse women's basketball team earned a 74-64 victory over UW-Superior Wednesday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles improve to 10-4 overall and 2-3 in the WIAC while the Yellowjackets fall to 5-7 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

UW-L has now on six straight over UW-Superior and 10 of the last 11 overall.

Larson finished seven-of-11 from the field, including three-of-six from three-point range. She was two-of-two at the line and added three rebounds, one assist and one steal.

The Eagles led 19-16 with 9:28 left in the first half, but went on a 13-3 run to lead 32-19. UW-L led 39-28 at halftime.

UW-L opened the second half on a 17-4 run to lead 56-32 with 15:02 remaining. The Eagles made eight of their first 10 shots from the field in the second half, including three-of-three from three-point range. UW-Superior could get no closer than the final margin of 10.

Along with Larson's 19 points, Danielle Frank recorded her third straight double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. The 17 rebounds tied a season-high.

Melissa Lang finished with 14 points for UW-L while Dana Churchill and Stacie Van Handel each had 11. It marked Churchill's 10th straight game scoring in double figures.

UW-L shot 54.9% from the field, including 65.0% (13-of-20) in the second half. The Eagles shot 38.9% (seven-of-18) from three-point range overall and 78.6% (11-of-14) at the free throw line.

Anna Petersen and Hailey Hart led UW-Superior with 10 points. The Yellowjackets shot 39.7% from the field, including 25.0% (four-of-16) from three-point range. The team was six-of-12 (50.0%) at the line.

UW-L returns to action Saturday, Jan. 9 at 25th-ranked UW-Stevens Point at 3:05 p.m.
