UW-Eau Claire Blugold Open Results
Colfax, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's cross country squad, ranked 12th in NCAA Division III, finished second at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Open Friday afternoon at Whitetail Golf Course. The Eagles finished with 58 team points while UW-Eau Claire won the men's title with 47 points. A total of 16 teams competed.
Saint John's University, Minn. finished third (92 points) followed by St. Olaf College, Minn. (125) and the University of St. Thomas, Minn. (155) in the top-five. UW-Stout was sixth (184) followed by Luther College, Iowa (194), UW-River Falls (206), Carleton College, Minn. (239) and Augsburg College, Minn. (320) to round-out the top-10.
Sean Harrington led the Eagles Friday with a fifth-place overall finish and a time of 25:49.5 on the 8,000-meter course. UW-L's Brian Shonat finished 12th overall (25:59.4) with Phill Hernandez 14th (26:06.7); Alex Ciesielski 15th (26:08.7); Jacob Peterson 17th (26:11.1); Thomas Reader 18th (26:11.6) and Carlton Folster 19th (26:12.1).
Others in the top-50 for UW-L included Sam Simones 22nd (26:18.2); Bobby Laabs 24th (26:20.4); Mike Miller 25th (26:21.7); Will Casey 26th (26:22.2); Tyler Heinz 35th (26:28.4); Bruce Schmitz 36th (26:29.7); Andrew Rohlman 48th (26:37.3) and David Stillin 50th (26:38.6).
A total of 314 runners competed.
UW-L returns to action Saturday, October 16 at the Jim Drews Invitational in West Salem, Wis. Action gets started at 10:30 a.m.
