"We believe this is the best Division III football vacancy in the country," said Director of Athletics Josh Whitman.  "We have a rich football tradition, having won three national championships, 33 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) titles, and over 500 games in our program's history.

"The University, the UW-L student body, and the La Crosse community are incredibly supportive, as evidenced by our new $17 million home stadium, built entirely with private funds.  Overall, our athletic program is one of the nation's finest in Division III, due to our talented coaching staff and our committed group of over 600 student-athletes.  Most importantly, our University is consistently rated as one of the finest in the Midwest and attracts top students and faculty from across the country."

Larry Terry completed his 11th season as head coach in 2010. He announced his retirement effective January. 13, 2011. Terry retires with a record of 65-48 (.575) at UW-L, including 47-30 (.610) in the WIAC. He led the Eagles to three conference titles (2002, 2003, 2004).
