UW-L Hosts Last Chance Meet; Hoff and Ellingson Qualify

La Crosse, Wis. -
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team hosted an NCAA Division III Last Chance Qualifying Meet Friday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles' Chelsea Hoff earned an NCAA Division III "A" qualifying time of 50.98 in the 100 freestyle. UW-L's Danielle Ellingson earned "B" qualifying status in the 100 breaststroke at 1:06.34.

In other action, Hoff (1:56.98) and Abby Diehl (1:57.46) competed in the 200 freestyle while Dayna Johnson competed in the 200 butterfly (2:12.33).

The Eagles' Taylor Smith competed in the 100 butterfly (59.16) and Jennifer Bryson in the 100 backstroke (1:00.70).

The NCAA Division III Championships are scheduled for March 17-20 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

UW-L’s athletic teams sport a contemporary Eagle in the L and caricature created in 1989. Dave Christianson, a 1973 art major graduate, penned the images after the UW-L men’s teams took the Eagles moniker. Women’s teams started sporting the Eagles moniker in November 1990.
