UW-La Crosse 108, UW-Whitewater 73
La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team improved to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the WIAC with a 108-73 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Saturday afternoon in Mitchell Hall on Senior Day.
Trey Edgerle captured the one-meter diving competition (234.00 points) for the Eagles while
Casey Chamberlain won the three-meter (227.55). Edgerle tied with teammate
Patrick Schulze for second in the three-meter (208.75) while Chamberlain was third in the one-meter (178.80). Schulze placed second in the one-meter (221.25).
UW-L took both relay events Saturday. The 200 medley relay of
Casey Borden,
Matthew Diehl,
Joel Knuesel and
Spencer Loch claimed first (1:36.01) while the 200 freestyle relay of
David Sloane,
Kyle Bennwitz,
Brenden Gould and
Jordan Hanrahan also won (1:34.24).
Individually,
Justin Dembski took the 200 freestyle (1:46.01),
Simon Weisse won the 200 I.M. (2:08.03) and
Kurt Zehel captured the 100 butterfly (54.04).
The Eagles'
Benjamin Knutson was second in the 200 freestyle (1:52.42) while
Ryan Schmidt placed second in the 200 I.M. (2:17.44). Sloane finished third in the 50 freestyle (23.70) and Loch was third in the 100 butterfly (56.55).
UW-L returns to action Thursday, Feb. 11 at the WIAC Swimming & Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis. Action begins at 10 a.m.
