La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's and women's track and field teams will compete at the 2010 NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday-Saturday, March 12-13. DePauw University Rose in Greencastle, Indiana will serve as host of the championships. Events begin at 8 a.m. (CT) Friday and Saturday.

Ashton May (Long Jump, Triple Jump, 55-Meter Dash), Christy Bohl (Shot Put, Weight Throw), Leeanne Nowicki (High Jump), Kailey Charlton (55-Meter Dash), Laurel Beck (4x400-Meter Relay), Rebecca Scheuermann (4x400-Meter Relay), Kelsey Katarow (4x400-Meter Relay) and Lauren Seidl (4x400-Meter Relay) will represent the women's squad this weekend.
           
The Eagles finished second at last year's indoor championships at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana with 41.5 points. Wartburg College (Iowa) won the national title with 51.0 points. UW-Oshkosh placed third (33.0) followed by Illinois Wesleyan University (28.0) and Tufts University (23.0). 

It was UW-L's fourth second-place finish in NCAA III history (1993, 1999, 2001, 2009). The Eagles, who tied for fourth in 2008, have recorded seven top-three finishes in school history.

Dave Pergande (Pole Vault), Kellen McCrary (Long Jump), Matt Gordy (55-Meter Dash), Zach Lee (55-Meter Dash), McCauley Kraker (Distance Medley Relay), Ryan Mendez (Distance Medley Relay), Bruce Schmitz (Distance Medley Relay), Brian Shonat (Distance Medley Relay), Andy Novak (Shot Put), Isaac Vazquez (Triple Jump), David Stauder (High Jump), Aric Hoeschen (4x400-Meter Relay), Alex Rooker (4x400-Meter Relay), Terrence Thigpen (4x400-Meter Relay) and Paul Yerhot (4x400-Meter Relay) will represent the men's team at this year's national championships.

The Eagles captured their 15th NCAA Division III Indoor Championships last season at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. UW-L and UW-Oshkosh tied for the national crown with 32.0 points. Whitworth University (Wash.) placed third (24.0 points) followed by McMurry University, Texas (23.0) and Buena Vista University, Iowa (21.0) to round-out the top-five.

The 15 national indoor titles are the most in NCAA III history. UW-L, which has won eight of the last nine indoor titles, has captured a nation-leading 26 national championships overall (15 indoor, 11 outdoor).
