Diehl Earns All-America Honor; UW-L in 27th-Place

Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team is in 27th-place after the third day of competition at the 2010 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Championships being held at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

The Eagles have 27.5 team points while Kenyon College (Ohio) leads with 502.0. Emory University (Ga.) is second (222.5) followed by Denison University (Ohio) in third (212.0), Kalamazoo College (Mich.) fourth (183.0) and The College of New Jersey fifth (181.0). A total of 57 teams have scored points.

UW-L's Matt Diehl earned NCAA Division III Honorable Mention All-America honors Friday night with a 13th-place finish (56.86) in the 100 breaststroke. It is the fourth All-America honor of this year's championships for Diehl, who now has nine career All-America awards. 

He has been on the Eagles' 10th-place 200 freestyle relay (1:23.43), 14th-place 200 medley relay (1:33.37) and 15th-place 400 medley relay (3:25.61) this week.

UW-L's 800 freestyle relay of Kevin Misener, Spencer Loch, Casey Borden and Ben Knutson placed 19th (7:03.87) Friday. 

Misener also competed in the 100 backstroke preliminaries, finishing 34th (53.44).

Did You Know...
UW-L's student-athletes recorded a cumulative grade point average of 3.210 in 2010-11, the highest in the WIAC.  The Eagles also had the highest number of student-athletes, 376, posting grade point averages above 3.000.
