St. Norbert College (Wis.) 2, UW-La Crosse 1
Whitewater, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse softball team fell 2-1 to St. Norbert College (Wis.) Saturday afternoon in the NCAA Division III Regional at van Steenderen Field at UW-Whitewater. The Eagles finish their season at 38-9 while the Green Knights improve to 33-7. St. Norbert will play Aurora University (Ill.) Sunday, May 16 at noon. UW-L's 38 victories is a school record.
The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth.
Jenna Ahnen opened with a bunt single and moved to third on
Cara Salm's ground out to third.
Katie Keyes then knocked in Ahnen with a ground out to second.
The Green Knights tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on a two-out home run from Stephanie Ortiz.
Brieanne Oehlke hit a lead-off walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh to give St. Norbert the 2-1 victory.
Heather Schultz (24-4) took the loss, pitching 6.0 innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out five.
Ahnen was 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored.
Rachel Croak,
Rachel Weyer and
Kelsey Golackson each finished with one hit.
Kari Corbeille (13-3) earned the win for St. Norbert, going 7.0 innings, allowing five hits, one run and one walk. Four different players had a hit for the Green Knights.
