Buchholtz and McCrary Honored

Madison, Wis. - Award winners for the 2010 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) outdoor track and field season have been announced, based on voting conducted by the league coaches.  UW-La Crosse head coach Josh Buchholtz was chosen the Coach of the Year, while UW-Oshkosh's Ben Zill was named the Track Performer of the Meet and UW-La Crosse's Kellen McCrary claimed the Field Performer of the Meet honor.

Buchholtz earned the prize for the second straight year after directing the Eagles to their 20th consecutive WIAC championship.  He is in his second season in charge of the program.

Zill secured a pair of first-place medals at the WIAC championship with NCAA Division III provisional qualifying times.  He captured the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.36 and the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.83.  Zill was also a member of the fourth-place 4x400-meter relay team.

McCrary earned the WIAC crown in the long jump with a leap of 23-6 3/4. His performance was a facility record and NCAA Division III provisional mark.  McCrary also placed third in the triple jump at the league meet.
