UW-L National Qualifier Final Results
La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team hosted the UW-L National Qualifier Thursday night at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. No team scores were recorded.
The Eagles'
Isaac Vazquez and
Aric Hoeschen captured individual titles Thursday as Vazquez won the long jump (23-8) and Hoeschen the 400-meter dash (47.58). Both provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships.
Other top finishes in the field events for UW-L included
Dave Stauder second in the high jump (6-7),
Dave Pergande second in the pole vault (16-0 3/4) and
Andy Novak second in the shot put (55-3). Pergande and Novak provisionally qualified for the national meet.
Brett Davis was third in the triple jump (46-5 1/4) while
Bill Warren was third in the shot put (54-3 1/4). Warren provisionally qualified for the NCAA III Championships.
Aaron Johnson was seventh in the hammer throw (173-3) and
Adam Poellinger was seventh in the shot put (49-10).
Scott Spexarth finished eighth in the long jump (20-1 1/2) and
Erik Moser 12th in the pole vault (14-1 1/4). Johnson met provisionally qualifying standards in the hammer.
On the track, Spexarth was second (15.55) and
Luke Ackerson sixth (32.70) in the 110-meter hurdles while
Paul Yerhot finished fourth (48.56) and
Ryan Mendez ninth (49.74) in the 400-meter dash.
The Eagles' 4x100-meter relay also placed fourth (41.54) and provisionally qualified for the national championships.
UW-L's
Paul Moran was sixth in the 1,500-meter run (3:55.56) while
Brian Shonat finished seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:46.11).
Jared Sitte placed seventh in the 100-meter dash (11.17) and 10th in the 200-meter dash (22.60).
UW-L returns to action Thursday, May 27 at the NCAA III Championships in Berea, Ohio.
