Berea, Ohio - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team is tied for seventh-place after the first day of competition Thursday at the 2010 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Outdoor Championships. The championships are taking place at Tressel Field at Finnie Stadium at Baldwin-Wallace College.
UW-L has 8.0 team points. UW-Oshkosh leads the championships with 21.0 points while Moravian College (Pa.) is second with 15.0 and the University of Chicago (Ill.) and Carroll University (Ill.) tied for third with 14.0. Carleton College (Minn.) is fifth (11.0) and Texas Lutheran sixth (10.5). UW-L, the University of St. Thomas (Minn.), Pomona-Pitzer College (Calif.), North Central College (Ill.) and California Lutheran College are tied for seventh with 8.0 points.
The Eagles'
Ashton May earned NCAA Division III All-America honors Thursday with a second-place finish in the long jump (19-2). It is May's eighth career All-America award, including fifth outdoors. She placed fourth in the long jump last season outdoors and has been a member of three 4x100-meter relays, which have earned All-America honors. UW-L was fifth in 2007 and 2009 and sixth in 2008.
May will compete in the triple jump Saturday and was a member of UW-L's 4x100-meter relay Thursday. The relay of

Laurel Beck ran 46.97 in Thursday's preliminaries and will compete in the championship finals Saturday. The Eagles' had the fourth-fastest qualifying time Thursday.

Jenna Starck is in seventh-place after the first day of action in the heptathlon. She has 2,788 points.
