WIAC Outdoor Championships Final Results
River Falls, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team earned its fourth straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Championship Saturday afternoon at the Ramer Field Athletic Complex. It is the Eagles' 26th league title overall.
UW-L finished with 189.0 points while UW-Oshkosh was second with 149.5 and UW-Eau Claire third with 141.5. UW-River Falls placed fourth (108.0) followed by UW-Stevens Point (96.0); UW-Whitewater (71.0); UW-Platteville (61.0); UW-Stout (42.0) and UW-Superior (0.0).
In Saturday's events,
Stephanie Perleberg and
Ashton May won their second individual titles. Perleberg took the 1,500-meter run (4:41.50) and placed third in the 5,000-meter run (17:26.35). She won the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:41.90) Friday, setting a facility record.
May won the triple jump Saturday (38-9) after capturing the long jump (18-3) Friday. She was also fourth in the 100-meter dash (12.22) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (25.90) Saturday.
UW-L won the 4x100-meter relay Saturday (48.12) and finished third in the 4x400-meter relay (3:56.80).
The Eagles'
Jenna Starck finished fifth in the heptathlon Saturday (3,931 points).
Other top finishes on the track Saturday included
Kailey Charlton second in the 100-meter dash (12.12),
Laurel Beck fifth in the 400-meter dash (59.18) and
Kristin Lillie fifth in the 800-meter run (2:19.74).
Sheila Opelt was third (15.39) in the 100-meter hurdles while
Maggie May finished fourth (1:07.54) and
Jamie Montgomery fifth (1:07.92) in the 400-meter hurdles.
In the field events,
Megan Marfilius was fourth in the high jump (5-2 1/4).
UW-L returns to action Friday, May 14 in the UW-L Invitational at 4 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
