Trocke Named to All-Region Team

Matt Trocke
La Crosse, Wis. – University of Wisconsin-La Crosse junior second baseman Matt Trocke of Burnsville, Minn. (H.S.) has been named to the 2010 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division III All-Midwest Region Third Team. It is the first all-region honor for Trocke, who was selected to the 2010 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) First Team.

Trocke started all 40 games for the Eagles in 2010, hitting .374, which ranked seventh in the WIAC. He led UW-L in hits (58), runs (38) and doubles (11) this year while tying for the team lead in stolen bases (4). Trocke also ranked second in at-bats (155) and walks (15) for the Eagles while being fourth in home runs (4) and RBI (22).

A career .336 hitter at UW-L, Trocke has played in 78 games, including 69 starts. He led the Eagles with 16 multi-hit games in 2010, including at least one hit 32 of 40 games. He had a career-high 14-game hitting streak.

Trocke tied his career-high with four hits against UW-Oshkosh May 9 and scored a career-high four runs versus UW-Stout April 7 and UW-Superior April 24. He had six multi-RBI games, including tying his career-high three against UW-Oshkosh.

UW-L finished 17-23 overall and 9-15 in the WIAC in 2010.

UW-L's student-athletes recorded a cumulative grade point average of 3.210 in 2010-11, the highest in the WIAC.  The Eagles also had the highest number of student-athletes, 376, posting grade point averages above 3.000.
