New Orleans, La. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse placed eighth in the final 2010 United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Program of the Year standings for women. The award is named after Deb Vercauteren, a member of the USTFCCCA Hall of Fame and UW-Oshkosh cross country and track & field coach.

The Deb Vercauteren NCAA Division III Program of the Year Award honors the institution that achieved the most success while competing at national meets in the sports of cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field.

In order to be eligible for the award, teams must qualify for each of the three NCAA Division III championship meets.  Scoring is based on each team’s finish, with one point going to first place and two to second.  The lowest combined score for all three championships determine the award winner.

UW-L placed eighth overall with 30.5 points. The Eagles were 17th at the 2009 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, sixth at the 2010 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships and seventh at the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

UW-Oshkosh won this year's award with 17 points. The Titans were second at both the indoor and outdoor track & field championships while placing 13th at the cross country championships.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology was second with 18 points while Calvin College (Mich.) was third with 19. Wartburg College (Iowa) placed fourth (21) and St. Lawrence University (N.Y.) and Williams College (Mass.) tied for fifth (26.5).

A total of 14 programs accumulated points in the rankings.
