La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 1-0 victory over St. Catherine University (Minn.) Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Stadium in the Eagles' home opener. St. Catherine falls to 1-1 on the season.

Emily Wick recorded six saves for UW-L. It is her second shutout of the year.

Lindsay Wilde scored the only goal of the match at 84:48 with an assist from Kelleen Gorenc. It is Wilde's second goal of the season. 

UW-L outshot St. Catherine, 14-13, including 9-6 on shots on goal.

The Wildcats' Chelsea Jones-Thomas recorded eight saves. 

UW-L returns to action Wednesday, September 8 hosting St. Mary's University (Minn.) at 7 p.m.
