La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team opened its 2011 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) season with a 0-0 double overtime tie with UW-Whitewater Saturday afternoon at Veterans Field. The Eagles are now 3-2-1 overall while the Warhawks are 2-3-1. It was also the league opener for UW-Whitewater.
The Warhawks finished with 16 shots in the match, including six on goal, while the Eagles totaled 17 shots with also six on goal.
UW-L's
Sagan Pizzingrilli and UW-Whitewater's Jordan Myers each recorded six saves in goal.
Taylor Baker led the Eagles with two shots on goal while Emily Gerber led the Warhawks with two.
UW-L returns to action Wednesday, September 21 at Saint Mary's University (Minn.) at 7 p.m.
