UW-Stevens Point Invitational Results
Stevens Point, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team placed second at the two-day UW-Stevens Point Invitational Saturday night. The Eagles finished with 992.0 team points. UW-Stevens Point won the title with 1,271.5 points while UW-Eau Claire was third with 756.0 and UW-Oshkosh fourth with 287.5.
In Saturday's action,
Justin Dembski won the 200 freestyle (1:47.65) while
Stephen Hanko recorded a pair of second-place finishes. He was second in the 400 I.M. (4:25.23) and 200 backstroke (2:04.12).
Spencer Loch placed third in the 50 freestyle (21.87) with
Daniel Streater third in the 100 butterfly (54.12).
UW-L had three relays place in the top-three Saturday. The 200 medley relay of
Nick Bietz, Loch,
Joel Knuesel and
Samual Wiedemeier were second (1:40.02). The Eagles' 400 freestyle relay of Loch, Knuesel, Wiedemeier and
Erich Schnell was third (3:16.85) as was the 800 freestyle relay of Dembski, Hanko, Schnell and
Garrett Runing (7:23.48).
In diving,
Justin Bublitz was second (434.30 points) in the one-meter competition and fourth (447.45) in the three-meter.
Andrew Janny placed second (500.35) in the three-meter and fourth (417.55) in the one -meter.
In Friday's action, Dembski, Loch and
Chris Kaminski earned second-place finishes. Dembski was second (4:53.56) in the 500 freestyle while Loch placed second (48.20) in the 100 freestyle and Kaminski second (2:05.38) in the 200 butterfly.
Other top individual finishes Friday included Streater third (2:06.52) and
Kurt Zehel fifth (2:08.25) in the 200 butterfly while Wiedemeier was fourth (56.36) in the 100 backstroke.
The Eagles had a pair of relays finish second Friday. Loch, Knuesel, Bietz and Wiedemier were second (1:28.31) in the 200 freestyle while Wiedemeier, Loch, Knuesel and Schnell finished second (3:40.06) in the 400 medley relay.
UW-L returns to action Saturday, January 28 at UW-Stevens Point at noon.
