Shoreview, Minn. (Mounds View) have been selected the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Novak was named the WIAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week after winning the shot put (59-0 3/4) at the UW-Stout Open January 21. His throw currently ranks first on the NCAA Division III Honor Roll and 21st among all NCAA institutions.
Ellingson earned WIAC Female Swimmer of the Week honors after winning three individual events and was a member of four first-place relays at the Get to the Point Invitational January 20-21 in Stevens Point. She won the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.47), 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.08) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:24.25). Ellingson met the NCAA "B" qualifying standard in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke.
She was on UW-L's first-place 400-yard freestyle (3:37.24), 800-yard freestyle (7:57.73), 200-yard medley (1:49.33) and 400-yard medley (4:01.07) relays.
Swanson was selected the WIAC Female Diver of the Week as she won the three-meter competition (426.00 points) and tied for second in the one-meter (399.00) at the Get to the Point Invitational. She met the NCAA qualifying standards in both events.
Ellingson and Swanson helped lead UW-L to a first-place finish in Get to the Point Invitational.
