St. Paul, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse won a pair of matches at the Hamline University (Minn.) Invitational Friday afternoon in Hutton Arena. The Eagles earned a 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-16) victory over Crown College (Minn.) and a 3-1 (25-13, 26-24, 21-25, 25-22) win over Buena Vista University (Iowa). UW-L, winners of three straight overall, are now 3-4 on the season.
In the win over Crown,
Haley Molzner led UW-L with nine kills. She had two errors in 17 attempts for a .412 hitting percentage.
Kayla Ashland finished with seven kills in eight attempts (.875) while
Crystal Ziegler had five kills in nine attempts (.556). The Eagles hit .323 for the match with 30 kills and 10 errors in 62 attempts.
Chantel York recored 17 assists while
Cassie Raduka had 11.
Ziegler led the Eagles' defense with nine digs while
Katie Kaufman finished with five. Ashland had three blocks.
Versus Buena Vista,
Brianna Jacobson led UW-L with eight kills. She had one error in 18 attempts (.359). Ziegler, Ashland and Molzner each had six kills.
York registered 21 assists.
Kaufman led the team with 17 digs with
Leah Putzier finishing with 15 and York 11. Ashland and Jacobson each had four blocks with UW-L recording 9.0 team blocks.
UW-L continues at the Hamline Invitational Saturday, September 8 facing UW-River Falls at 10 a.m. and Presentation College (S.D.) at noon.
