La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's tennis team earned a pair of home victories Saturday to improve to 17-5 on the season. The Eagles defeated Wartburg College (Iowa) by the score of 8-1 and UW-Oshkosh 9-0. UW-L, winners of 13 of its last 14 matches, is one win away from tying the single-season school record of 18 victories set in 2010 and 2011.
Versus Wartburg, UW-L took five of the six singles matches.
Kevin McMillen defeated Yusuf Chowdhry at No. 1 (6-2, 6-1),
Kyle McGrane beat Eric Hilpert at No. 3 (6-2, 6-4) and
Tony Mirasola defeated Blayne Willadsen at No. 4 (6-3, 4-6, 10-8).
Nick Skanavis beat Dayton Stevens at No. 5 singles (6-0, 6-2) and
Travis Murphy defeated Josh Trueblood at No. 6 (6-2, 4-6, 10-5).
Wartburg earned its lone win in singles at No. 2 as Brian Rasmussen beat
Vic Mirasola (6-0, 4-6, 10-8).
UW-L swept the doubles competition with Wartburg. McMillen/McGrane beat Hilpert/Willadsen at No. 1 (8-3);

Matt Bulger beat Stevens/Trueblood at No. 3 (8-2).
In the win over UW-Oshkosh, McMillen defeated Kevin Lewis at No. 1 singles (7-5, 6-1),
Vic Mirasola beat Aidan Sauberlich at No. 2 (7-6, 6-2) and McGrane beat Mike Gillespie at No. 3 (1-,6 6-3, 10-7).

Tony Mirasola defeated Adam Kasper at No. 4 (6-2, 6-2) while Skanavis defeated Alex Yang at No. 5 (6-0, 6-2) and Murphy beat Charlie Bostwick at No. 6 (6-1, 6-1).
In the doubles competition, McMillen/McGrane beat Lewis/Gillespie at No. 1 (8-6),
Tony Mirasola/Pitera defeated Sauberlich/Kasper at No. 2 (9-7) and
Vic Mirasola/Bulger beat Yang/Bostwick at No. 3 (8-5).
UW-L returns to action Friday, April 19 versus UW-Eau Claire. The match is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. at UW-Whitewater.
