UW-Whitewater 185.575, UW-La Crosse 185.025
La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics team fell 185.575 to 185.025 to UW-Whitewater Friday night in Mitchell Hall. The Warhawks came into the meet first in the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) rankings while the Eagles were ranked fifth.
The Eagles scored 46.475 on the vault; 46.925 on the uneven parallel bars; 45.075 on the balance beam and 46.550 on the floor exercise.
Amy Enright won two individual events for the Eagles Friday night. She finished with a 9.675 to capture the uneven parallel bars and scored a 9.475 to win the floor exercise. She also finished second in the all-around with a score of 37.250.
Other top finishers for UW-L included
Samantha Wiekamp, who finished tied for third on the vault (9.525), fourth on the bars (9.325), and third in the all around (36.900). The score on vault was a career-high for Wiekamp.
Ali Berry placed third on the beam (9.325) and tied for third on the floor exercise with
Elsa Spitzmueller (9.350).
On the uneven parallel bars,
Lauren Wilson was second (9.450) with
Carly Kiesow finishing fifth (9.275).
Kari Willett tied for fourth on the balance beam (9.050) while
Kerry Scafidi placed sixth (9.025).
UW-L returns to action Friday, February 27 hosting UW-Eau Claire and Hamline University (Minn.) at 6:30 p.m.
