UW-La Crosse Triangular Results
La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics team swept the top-three positions in all four events Friday night at the UW-L Triangular in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles finished with a team score of 186.925 while Hamline University (Minn.) placed second at 182.625 and UW-Eau Claire finished third at 181.050.
UW-L scored 47.125 on the vault, 46.200 on the uneven parallel bars, 46.100 on the balance beam and 47.500 on the floor exercise.
"Tonight we really applied the things we are working on in practice, so I'm really excited," said UW-L head coach Barb Gibson. "This was a good score for us at home, and the girls really performed well."
Ali Berry won individual titles on the balance beam (9.600) and floor exercise (9.650) Friday. Her score of 9.600 on the balance beam tied a career-high. Berry also finished second on vault (9.525).
Carly Kiesow was the champion on the uneven parallel bars (9.525) with teammate Samantha Wiekamp second (9.500).
Wiekamp was the all-around champion (36.650), and also captured the individual title on vault (career-high 9.550). She finished fifth on the floor (9.400).
Other top finishers for the Eagles Friday included Rachel Riesterer second on balance beam (tied career-high 9.525) with Kari Willett third (9.500) and Amy Enright sixth (9.275). Enright also tied for second on the floor exercise (9.575) with teammate Elsa Spitzmueller.
On the vault, Willett and Savana Kettner finished tied for third (9.400) while Chelsie Richards finished third on uneven parallel bars (tied career-high 9.475).
Berry, Katie Palluck, Riesterer, and Kelsi Vomacka were also honored on UW-L's Senior Night.
"They are really a special group," added Gibson. "They have put a lot of commitment and dedication into our program, and they bring nothing but good positive energy and strong work ethic day in and day out."
UW-L returns to action Friday, March 5 at Winona State University (Minn.) at 6 p.m.
