Lindenwood University (Mo.) Triangular
St. Charles, Mo. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics team placed second at the Lindenwood University (Mo.) Triangular Saturday night in Hyland Arena. The Eagles totaled 192.975 while Lindenwood (Mo.) took the team title at 194.025. Winona State University (Minn.) placed third at 191.175.
UWL's
Samantha Wiekamp captured the all-around (38.550) Saturday while also finishing tied for fourth on the floor exercise (9.750) and tied for sixth on vault (9.625).
The Eagles'
Kari Willett tied for second on the vault (9.725) while also finishing fourth on the balance beam (9.725) and sixth on the floor exercise (9.725).
Elsa Spitzmueller was third on the floor exercise (9.775) for UWL.
Amy Enright finished fourth on the uneven parallel bars (9.725) and tied for seventh on the floor exercise (9.700).
Dani Barmore recorded a pair of top-seven finishes, placing fifth on the vault (9.650) and tied for seventh on the uneven parallel bars (9.675) with
Abby Ostrovsky.
Lauren Wilson tied for fifth on the uneven parallel bars (9.700).
"Our goal was to start strong out of the gate and maintain it, and they definitely did that tonight," said UWL head coach
Kasey Crawford. "Our team's energy and performance is who they are. We're motivated to climb even higher now. To be within a point of the Division II national champions (Lindenwood) is great."
UWL returns to action Friday, February 3 hosting UW-Oshkosh at 6:30 p.m.
