Ames, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team fell 93-50 in an exhibition game at National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Iowa State University Sunday afternoon at Hilton Coliseum.
Iowa State never trailed in the game, scoring the first six points. UWL cut the lead to 10-5 with 6:02 left in the first quarter on Dani Craig's three-pointer. The Eagles trailed 14-10 with 4:17 remaining on a
Elise DeNoyer layup, but the Cyclones used a 12-2 run to end the quarter for a 26-12 lead. Iowa State led 47-26 at halftime.Â
UWL cut the deficit to 51-31 with 6:54 left in the third quarter after
Taylor Nelson's layup. Iowa State scored the game's next seven points and led 71-37 after three quarters. The Cyclones outscored the Eagles, 22-13, in the fourth quarter.
UWL shot 35.3% from the field, including 47.6% (10-of-21) from three-point range, and 44.4% (four-of-nine) from the free throw line. DeNoyer led the Eagles with 14 points, six rebounds and four assists. She tied for the team lead with Dani Craig with two steals. Ava Kramer totaled 10 points while Craig finished with nine.

"It was a great opportunity for our team to play at Iowa State today," said second-year UWL head coach
Karen Middleton. "Thank you to Bill Fennelly and his staff, they do an incredible job with their team.
"We are taking away a lot of positives from today's game," added Middleton. "We competed and played with great effort. We are very proud of our post players and how they battled against a very long front line."
Iowa State shot 52.2% from the field, including 38.7% (12-of-31) from three-point range, and 64.3% (nine-of-14) at the line. Bridget Carleton led the Cyclones with 17 points while Adriana Camber finished with 15 and Bride Kennedy-Hopoate with 14. Kennedy-Hopoate also had nine rebounds. Kristin Scott recorded a double-double with 10 points and game-high 10 rebounds.
"We had many bright spots that we will build on as we prepare for our opener November 17," said Middleton.
UWL opens its regular-season Friday, November 17 versus Saint Mary's University (Minn.) in the College of St. Benedict (Minn.) Tournament. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
