Recovery

Recovery: A common saying here at UW-L is the “harder you recover, the harder you can train or compete the next day”.  This is a very simple mantra that our athletes live by to ensure that when they need to train, or more importantly compete, they are as physically restored as possible.

Athletes are educated on a multitude of self-management strategies to ensure full recovery after training or a competition session. Recovery starts as simple as performing a brief stretching protocol upon completion of training, practice, competition or can become as complex as a 30 minute restoration session.

Athletes are able to use weekly training logs to monitor and maintain the highest level of training and competition.

Common Restorative Means:

Yoga
Static Stretching
Active Isolated Stretching (AIS)
Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)
Self Myofascial Release
Foam Roller
Rolling Stick
Softball / Tennis Ball
Cryothearpy (cold showers)
Thermothearpy (warm showers)
Contrast Therapy (warm to cold showers)
Light Aerobic Training Protocol
