Building Champions Trail
The University of Wisconsin–La Crosse Intercollegiate Athletics program has a mission statement of “
Building Champions. In Sport. In School. In Life.”
The following businesses are in the
building industry:
The City of La Crosse
builds areas that provide a welcoming community for residents of the city and surrounding areas to live in.
Together, these entities have come together to
build a recreational opportunity for the Coulee Region. A new trail has been added to the Hixon Forest trail system, called the “Building Champions Trail”.
The Building Champions Trail is 2.13 miles long, and features:
- Savanna Ecosystems
- Mature Oak Ecosystems
- Three Goat Prairie Ecosystems
- Three scenic overlooks
The 10 businesses involved in this project, have financially supported the trail project as well as the UWL Intercollegiate Athletics Department. These businesses have made the advancement of our community a strong priority. Each year, student-athletes will work to maintain the trail.
UWL Intercollegiate Athletics received a grant from the UWL Foundation. The Foundation's support allowed athletics to seek an art student to design and create the trailhead sign. Casey Liston, a 2017 graduate, earned the honor to design the sign.
