Alexis Schaefer starts her seventh year as a staff athletic trainer at UW-La Crosse in 2025-26.
She served as Northern Michigan University's Injury Evaluation and Care Clinic (IECC) Manager in 2018-19. The IECC provides Northern Michigan University and the Marquette, Michigan community access to evaluation, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation for sport and physical activity related injuries. In addition to providing athletic training services, Schaefer acted as the overseeing athletic training manager.
She worked at UP Rehab in Marquette, Michigan from 2017-19, providing athletic training services for athletic events. Schaefer primarily provided outreach care at Marquette Senior High School.
Schaefer earned her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology - athletic training from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2015 and her master's degree in exercise science from Northern Michigan in 2018.
While serving a certified athletic training internship at Northern Michigan in 2017-18, Schaefer provided athletic training services for the Wildcats' National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's hockey team as well as the NCAA Division II women's volleyball and men's and women's golf teams. She also completed a certified athletic training internship at Northwestern University (Ill.) in 2015-16, providing services for the NCAA Division I football squad and women's cross country/track & field team.
Schaefer served as an teaching graduate assistant at Northern Michigan from 2016-18.
She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA).
