Aaron Schmitz returns as an assistant coach at UWL in 2026, working with the tight ends and running backs while also serving as an assistant sports performance coach for the intercollegiate athletics department.
PRIOR COACHING EXPERIENCE:
* Assistant coach at UWL from December 2024 through March 2025.
* Running backs coach at Black Hills State University (S.D.).Â
* Assistant track & field coach at La Crosse (Wis.) Aquinas High School in March-June 2024, working with the sprints and jumps.
* Worked as a sports performance coach at Three Rivers Performance Center in La Crosse from May 2023 through October 2024.
PLAYING CAREER:
* Played four years at UWL.
* Served as team captain junior and senior seasons.
EDUCATION/ACADEMICS HONORS:Â
* Earned bachelor’s degree from UWL in 2024 in exercise sport science pre-professional with a minor in nutrition and coaching competitive athletics concentration.
* Four-year member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Scholastic Honor Roll.
* Member of UWL’s Dean’s List eight semesters.
* Two-year College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® selection.
* Earned National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) All-America honors in 2024.
